Surrey Heartlands ICB have recently shared an update regarding ADHD medication availability and supply.

The shortage of methylphenidate prolonged-release capsules and tablets, lisdexamfetamine capsules and guanfacine prolonged-release tablets was issued over a year ago on 27 September 2023. This national supply shortage was proposed at the time to last a few months, and we were expecting return to normal service at the beginning of this year. Unfortunately, this has not been the case and supply issues continue for methylphenidate modified release tablets. There is further details on the shortage in the update from Surrey Heartlands with links on how you can find out about stock levels in your area and anticipated return date of stock.

We are pleased to inform you that supply issues have been resolved for the other ADHD medicines (atomoxetine, dexamfetamine, guanfacine and lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate immediate release tablets and methylphenidate modified release capsules).

We will keep you updated with any further developments and would urge you to look at our information and resource page for Neurodevelopmental needs on the Mindworks website, this page which has recently been updated, has lots of helpful strategies and interventions to support ADHD symptomology as well as some medication advice under the ADHD section.
