We are holding two workshops, one for parents and carers and one for young people – to share their experiences in accessing mental health services. Read below to find out more about each workshop.

Risk support workshop for young people under 25

We are inviting young people under 25 to join a small online group alongside members of Amplify, our youth shadow leadership board to share their experiences of accessing Mental Health services. The online session will be held virtually on Wednesday 23 April between 7:30-8:30pm.

We are looking to develop our risk support offer, which specifically works with children and young people who have not benefited from mental health services but who still require specialise support for their mental health.

We would like to hear from you if you have received support or treatment for your mental health and you felt that things didn’t improve, or you found it difficult to engage with a service.

We are interested in learning from you about what your experiences of this have been, and hearing what information, support, or guidance might be useful.
We understand this could be a sensitive topic, so there is also an option for young people to have a private conversation with two Mindworks colleagues. We hope these smaller discussions will take place at the start of May. We can also be flexible if you would like to share your views in different ways (voice notes, letter, or survey).

Young people can participate in either – or both – ways and will receive a £15 thank you voucher for their time, per activity (i.e. young people who attend both the group workshop and the separate conversation will receive x2 £15 vouchers).

If you would like to sign up to this workshop, please fill out this Microsoft form.

Access workshop for parents and carers

The way that young people and families access support for emotional wellbeing and mental health in Surrey is evolving. Mindworks is developing the different ways of accessing support and wants to speak to parents and carers to explore and shape some of these ideas.

We’re holding a 60-minute online workshop on Thursday 24 April between12.30-1.30pm for parents and carers of young people to share their views and experiences relating accessing services. We hope to gather insights on topics such as accessing support through GP's, local hubs and the Mindworks responses to young people’s needs.
The workshop is keen to speak to parents and carers of children and young people who have accessed mental health support through a GP or school within the last twelve months but we may consider widening the opportunity if spaces allow.

If you would like to sign up to this workshop, please contact Naomi Ghafoor at naomi.ghafoor@surreywellbeing.org
