Service Description
Support for children in Year 6 who are struggling or at risk of struggling with the transition from primary to secondary school.
- Volunteer coaches provide emotional literacy input as well as wellbeing support, helping children to process their transition.
- Informal 1:1 sessions which take place weekly at their school (first in primary and then secondary school), taking place over 12 months, April-April.
- Sessions aim to reduce the impact of the transition from primary to secondary school with children showing an increase in confidence, resilience, and emotional literacy skills.
Areas covered
- Transition coaches are currently offered to a select few schools in the Guildford borough with plans to expand to more schools in future.
